Bruce Golden, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Bruce Golden, M.S., M.D., M.S. (Ophthalmology), F.A.C.S., Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Board Certified in Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, received his specialty training through the University of Iowa; an institution renowned for preparing teachers and researchers of ophthalmology.
Early on he was a Fellow of the National Institutes of Health, and later a principal investigator as he moved up the academic ranks. His post-doctoral work and degree complimented his sub specialty of corneal transplant surgery, including ocular virology, microbiology, immunology, and infectious disease of the eye. He was responsible for the Fellowship training program in Corneal Surgery at the University of Iowa and was in charge of the Ocular Inflammatory Disease Laboratory for the University. His Fellows are practicing throughout the world.

He was invited as a Visiting Professor, lecturing/teaching around the United States, Europe and Asia, and was the author and co-author of many seminal research articles and several books. Dr. Golden was honored to be given an Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology by the Blindness Research Foundation, as Professor of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Golden was brought in to create and maintain a Center of Excellence in Ophthalmology at a large Chicago hospital When he entered the private practice of ophthalmic surgery including corneal transplantation, cataracts, glaucoma surgery, plastic/reconstructive surgery about the eyes, and laser surgery, he was gratified to be frequently called as a consultant for problem cases in his field. . Trained from the outset as a micro-surgeon, he tutored surgeons in his department until they were able to increase their skill.
